accreditation

DOGS made a gruesome discovery following the mysterious disappearance of a 10-year-old boy.

This after Ayabulela Abongwe Kubheka from Nyezane in KZN disappeared at 7pm on 15 December.

He was in the care of his gogo, who had left him in bed to warm up a meal.

According to Colonel Thembeka Mbele, Ayabulela’s gogo reported a case of a missing person at Amangwe Police Station.

“It is alleged that on the 25 December at about 4pm, Ayabulela’s uncle was outside when a dog was seen with a human leg in its mouth. He later spotted dogs digging in the neighbour’s yard and went to investigate. He then discovered a shallow grave and called nearby community members to help him dig it up. They found the body and called the police,” she said.

Mbele said a 32-year-old neighbour, who was also a relative, attempted to escape but was apprehended by the community.

“The suspect allegedly told the community that he killed the boy by choking him because he needed his body to protect his house from being bewitched by people. He then dug up a shallow grave and buried him.”

The man appeared in the Estcourt Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 28 December, for charges of murder.

He was remanded in custody and the case postponed to January for further investigation.
