He said the madala handed himself in after “an engagement with the Serious Organised Crime Investigation team of the Hawks” for his alleged involvement in the murder.

The madala will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate Court on Monday, 6 November.

He said the incident happened while cops were still reeling from the murder of another cop, Constable Asavela Mathe in the same kasi in October 2023.

Mathe's naked body was found dumped on the streets a few meters away from the suspected killer's shack.

Mpumzi Nompetsheni (30), who is the brother of the deceased cop’s best friend, was arrested in connection with Mathe's murder.
