RESIDENTS are hoping their city council will start taking crime more seriously.

This comes after Polokwane Mayor John Mpe’s Toyota double-cab bakkie was stolen in broad daylight from the parking lot of Thornhill Shopping Complex on Wednesday, 6 July.

At the time, the mayor was meeting with an international delegation at Peter Mokaba Stadium and the bakkie was not being used by him. He said a case of car theft was opened. Lieutenant-Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi said the case was being investigated.

Charles Maditsi wrote: “Let it hit home, then they will realise that the cries of ordinary citizens about crime are valid.”
