THE first final examination paper, according to the matric class of 2022, was not difficult.
This seemed to be the general take as the matric sat down for English first additional language paper one on Monday, 31 October.
In Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni, Gontse Khoza (17) and Ntokozo Ndlovu (18) from Harry Gwala Secondary School said they had the time of their lives.
Gontse said: “The paper was easy. We are looking forward to the second one.”
Ntokozo said he was looking forward to the exams.
“I’ve been studying hard throughout the years and I’m glad the moment of truth has finally come,” he said.
“Today’s papers was not difficult. I enjoyed writing it.”
In KZN, pupils from Ogwini Comprehensive Technical High School in Umlazi, south of Durban, said the paper was easy.
Londeka Hadebe (17) told Daily Sun she enjoyed the paper.
She said she was aiming for an 80% pass.
Ayabonga Nyaba (18) said she would definitely pass the paper.
“I finished writing early. I think I will get at least a B for this paper,” she said.

Speaking during his visit to Khayalami Secondary School in Belfast, Mpumalanga, education MEC Bonakele Majuba said the province had done its best to ensure that all pupils performed well.
Mpumalanga had 71 582 candidates who registered for the exams. The pupils were writing in 566 centres across the province.
Majuba said: “We are quite optimistic that our pupils are fully prepared. We hope and believe we will be able to continue offering incident-free examinations.”
He said they were working very hard for all the children to pass.
Khayalami’s Ntombikayise Nkuna (17), who sat for her exam yesterday, said she was well prepared.
“I am confident I will get good results,” she said.
