THE Orkney Magistrates Court in the North West was packed when a pastor and a Matlosana ward councillor, Tebogo Sepale (43), appeared in court on Wednesday, 17 May.
Sepale entered the court with a smile wearing grey trousers and a grey jacket.
The fully packed court had members of different various political parties, religious organisations and community members.
Just after sitting in the dock, Sepale looked around the public gallery.
The case was postponed to 26 June for further investigation and possible bail application, and the accused has been kept in jail.
The accused appeared with his lawyer, Attorney Kobus Burger.
Burger told Daily Sun he could not comment about the case at this stage, only saying Sepale's mother approached him a day before his court appearance on Tuesday, 16 May.
The state prosecutor, Riekie Krause, said they would oppose his bail application.

Members of political parties and congregations shouted inside the court, "no bail for Sepale and away with gender-based violence".
Sepale is facing eleven provisional charges, two for statutory rape, three for violation of a child with consent, one for manufacturing pornographic material, four for rape, and one for sexual intimidation.
His court appearance emanates from a report by the police indicating that the Klerksdorp Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit was investigating a case of crimen injuria and two separate counts of statutory rape after they were reported at Kanana Police Station near Orkney, respectively.
The court said in one of the cases, the suspect allegedly shared a nude picture of his private parts with the complainant.
In the second and separate case involving the same suspect, two counts of statutory rape were laid earlier on by the parents of two boys aged 15 and 17.
Investigations are still underway to gather more evidence against the suspect.
Police urged the public to refrain from sharing explicit videos recorded by the councillor as it may compromise the victims and their families, as well as the investigations into the matter.
