A 29-YEAR-OLD man suspected of shooting and killing five people in New Monwabisi Park in Khayelitsha in March has been found hiding in the Eastern Cape.
On 14 March, gunmen went to a shack in the area in the early hours of the morning.
They pounced on a man who was sleeping in his shack together with his girlfriend.
They shot her while naked and forced the man out of the shack.
They went with him to another shack where they allegedly killed him, together with other three men.
Cops in Cape Town said the man was caught in the Lower Lufuta area in Cala on Sunday, 8 May.
“Members attached to the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Team conducted a suspect tracing operation in the Eastern Cape with the assistance of the Lady Frere SAPS.
“They arrested a 29-year-old male in Lower Lufuta, Cala, Eastern Cape on Sunday. The male is the second suspect to be arrested in connection with the murder of the five people who were shot and killed in New Monwabisi Park,” said Captain Frederick van Wyk.
The suspect is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, 10 May.
Police have been on the hunt for the killers for the past two months.
A third suspect believed to have been involved in this shooting is still on the run.
One of the suspects, Madoda Zwayi (34), was arrested in Cape Town on 11 April, almost a month after the incident. National Prosecuting Authority spokesman, Eric Ntabazalila, said Zwayi was charged with five counts of murder.
He appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court yesterday.
Meanwhile, Thando Shuba (35), accused of killing six people in the Enkanini area of Khayelitsha on 20 March, is out on R800 bail.
Shuba was granted bail on Tuesday, 26 April. He is expected to appear again in court on 6 July.
