THE residents of Khuma kasi were woken up by a loud bang at about 3am on Thursday, 16 March.
Some said they thought it was a gunshot, but instead, it was an explosion used to bomb a Nedbank ATM in their area.
The bombing happened at the local Down Meriting Complex in Khuma near Klerksdorp in the North West.

Residents told Daily Sun that the bombing of ATMs in Khuma is on the rise.
Last year alone, two ATMs were allegedly bombed in Khuma, and thugs fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
A resident (37) said: "It is sad because our area will end up not having ATMs. This will force us to end up travelling to town to get money.
"Some of these ATMs are a walking distance, which makes it easy for us to access them.”
Captain Afjee Botma confirmed the incident, saying the police were looking for the suspects.
"It's alleged that there were five men who went to an ATM, and an explosion was heard.
"It is alleged that the men then jumped into a car with a bag and sped off. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen," Botma said.
She said two ATMs were bombed in the area, and the cases are still under investigation.
