INKOSI Mangosuthu Buthelezi has finally broken his silence.
This comes after the noise that arose after the King Cetshwayo District in Richards Bay, north of KZN, announced that they reinstated his name in the municipal building.
Buthelezi said it's a disgrace that people have problems with his name being reinstated.
“I commend what the district did because history needs to be preserved. What is happening today is the foundation. It is a pity that the president doesn’t know about this noise that is being made by the local ANC,” Buthelezi said.
His name was removed when the African National Congress (ANC) took over the district after the 2011 local government elections.
Buthelezi was speaking during the reinstatement of his name and the statue unveiling ceremony at the district office in Richards Bay on Friday, 31 March.
Buthelezi said there's a rich history that needs to be known.

“It's a shame to disrespect the rich history of our history. It is a shame that the ANC called a media briefing and released a media statement that totally disrespects our rich history. My family has been serving the royal family for over 100 years, and I don’t know how disrespectful this is to the royals if they have approved and welcomed this move by the district,” he said.
Buthelezi said he dedicated his life to bettering people’s lives and serving the Zulu monarch.
“There is nothing wrong I did to the ANC, so I don’t understand where this hatred comes from,” he said.
Among the guest who graced the ceremony were former president Kgalema Motlanthe, IFP president Velonkosini Hlabisa, IFP deputy president Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi, members of the royal family, members of the National Assembly and Provincial Legislature, as well as mayors from local municipalities.
Motlanthe said Buthelezi is a bedrock of Mzansi's history and journey to democracy.
“We are privileged to have you in our ranks to give us guidance. You are the man of many parties capable of answering the mass demand of life. Today presents a chance for us to praise and thank you for the role and guidance that you have provided to us. We need to be reminded from time to time to pause and give respect to our elders who struggled and fought for liberation,” he said.
