A MANENBERG woman is lucky to be alive after she was hit by a bakkie carrying pota pota (mobile toilets).
The incident happened on Saturday, 6 May, on Duinefontein Road between Gugulethu and Manenberg.
The 33-year-old was waiting for a taxi to Century City when a bakkie hit and flung her into a ditch.
Her family of the woman said they were only called to the scene after the incident.
"We are not sure what exactly happened, but residents said my sister was hit by this bakkie. She left home saying she was going to Century City, so she was hit while waiting for a taxi. We are happy that she is alive," said family member Joana Sampson (56).
According to a witness, Lisa Menzi (34) from OR Tambo kasi, the bakkie was trying to swerve away from a VW sedan that came in its way.
