POLICE have opened an inquest docket after a community member shot himself inside the police station.
This happened earlier on Wednesday, 8 February, at about 11am.
“It’s reported that the deceased entered the police station and informed the police officers that he can see and hear people chasing after him,” said Masondo.
He said the man (52) suddenly pulled out a firearm from his holster and shot himself in the upper body. He was certified dead at the scene.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the firearm is licensed to the deceased and that he was working as a security guard at one of the shops in Hillbrow,” he said.
Masondo also told Daily Sun that police officers and members of the community who witnessed the shooting are receiving counselling and the police station is fully functional.
