POLICE have opened an inquest docket after they found a body of a man with multiple wounds.
“It’s alleged that the man was killed during a mob attack at Lindela squatter camp in Freedom Park. The incident happened on Tuesday, 20 December,” said police spokeswoman, Colonel Noxolo Kweza.
Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered a male body lying in the veld, surrounded by stones and burning tyres.
“It’s alleged that the deceased male victim was accused by the mob of being the suspect, who allegedly murdered the female victim, whose lifeless body was also discovered at Mountainview in Freedom Park. The possibility of the two incidents being related cannot be ruled out,” said Kweza.
Gauteng police appealed to communities not to take the law into their own hands. Instead, community members are encouraged to work closely with the local police.

Meanwhile, a woman died after she was allegedly assaulted by her partner.
The community of Lindela squatter camp was left devastated after discovering the body hanging on a pole.
The woman was found hanged with a gown and covered with a blue polar fleece blanket.
She was wearing a pink T-shirt, blue jeans as well as white and blue sneakers.
It’s alleged that the woman, who was believed to be pregnant, was killed by her lover.
“The community members went out in numbers and hunted down the man and took matters in their own hands,” said a resident.
Ward 19 Councillor Lindani Zondo told Daily Sun the community had a strong campaign against gender-based violence.
“The killing of a pregnant woman is like spitting in the face of the community. This is devastating because this is the third person to be killed in this ward in a period of a month,” he said.
Zondo said they were working tirelessly with all the stakeholders to ensure that such crimes stopped happening in their community
According to Colonel Kweza, on Monday, 19 December, Eldorado Park police attended to a complaint after a body of the woman was found at Mountainview in Freedom Park.
