The Malawi Police Service has confirmed that they arrested Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary Bushiri.

Police spokesman Senior Superintendent, James Kadadzera, said the arrest was in response to a warrant of arrest issued by Interpol Pretoria on Monday.

He said the two are on trial in South Africa and believed to have absconded their bail conditions.

“The police launched a manhunt on Wednesday to arrest the couple. But the prophet and his wife handed themselves over to the police at Area 30 yesterday when they got wind of their impending arrest,” he said.

Kadazera said the prophet and his wife will record statements and taken before a court of law, in accordance with the prescripts of the law.
