MADALA Jacob Lekana has been told to cut his beloved trees by his neighbour, Grace Rampudi.
She’s been complaining the trees turned off her electricity supply when it was windy and fallen dry leaves worsened her asthma condition. But the 80-year-old from Ga-Rankuwa, north of Tshwane, believed she’s just jealous.
“What she is saying is not true; it is just jealousy. This woman is a bullfighter and is influencing other neighbours to turn against me.”
Jacob said he heard the power problem was caused by old circuit breakers that tripped it when it was windy. He said he had served Grace with a court order.
According to community leader Victor Khoza, she always came up with unnecessary complaints.
“First she complained that madala’s chickens smelt bad. I checked and they don’t smell. The woman is disrespectful. She even cut one of madala’s trees without his permission.”
But Grace insisted the trees damaged her house.
“My appliances, like TV and stove, are not working because the trees affect my switch box when they touch the line,” she said, adding she wouldn’t rest until they were gone.
