A MATRIC girl was found murdered on Thursday, 25 August and her boyfriend was discovered hanging from a tree nearby.
The pupil at Mzimba High School in Allandale, near Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga, was killed after getting into a fight with the boyfriend.
The gruesome murder came after the girl’s other lover allegedly phoned the boyfriend, and warned him to stay away from her.
The next morning, she was found dead in a schoolmate’s rented room.
According to the girl’s friend, the boyfriend arrived from Giyani late afternoon.
“They left together and went to buy mageu and food at a nearby shop.
“Later, they returned and seemed happy and she asked us to plait her hair.
“When we finished, the boyfriend asked if he could have the room so they could sort something out.
“He complained that he received a call from her new boyfriend and told him to stay away from her.
“They went to bed but the next morning at 5.30am, we went to call her for school and she did not answering.
“The boyfriend said she was taking a bath. He later disappeared,” said the friend.
School Governing Body chairwoman Confidence Mashile said the community was shocked and traumatised.
Worried mastandi Dorris Mashile (45) said she received a call from pupils at 6am to say they had found the girl’s body.
Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said: the bodies have been identified by the families:“On Thursday afternoon, 25 August, Domingo Hlungwane (24) from Giyani, Limpopo, visited his girlfriend Lesson Valoyi (19), also from Giyani, at Allandale Village. near Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga.
“She’s attending Grade 12 at Mzimba High School in the village.
“The two allegedly had an argument until evening.
“On Friday, 26 August, at around 6am, police from Mhala received information that Lesson Valoyi had been murdered inside a rented room and that the boyfriend Domingo Hlungwane hanged himself under a tree nearby.
“All stakeholders attended the scene. A case of murder and inquest have been opened.”
Mpumalanga education spokesman Gerald Sambo said: “We send our condolences to the bereaved family and close relatives after the passing of the pupil.”
