Justice department to attend Bushiris' extradition hearing!
THE Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DJOD) will lead a delegation to Malawi for the extradition hearing of controversial pastor Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary.
The hearing will be heard in the Malawi High Court on Tuesday, 30 May.
In leading this delegation, the department is fulfilling its role as a central authority.
In the extradition context, a central authority is a designated government department responsible for receiving, managing and executing extradition requests.
In a judgement earlier this year, the court ruled that witnesses who will be called in the extradition hearing must be physically present in the court.

Four bodies found with gunshot wounds!
FOUR bodies of two women and two men, between the ages of 40 and 50, were discovered with gunshot wounds in Constantia, in the Western Cape.
Cops were called to the crime scene after the discovery was made.
Police spokesman Colonel Andrè Traut said the motive for the multiple murders is yet to be determined, with detectives hard at work searching for clues.

Limpopo cops recover 14 stolen cows
LIMPOPO cops have recovered fourteen (14) suspected stolen cattle at separate locations including Moeding and Mamphokgo villages, on Wednesday, 24 May.
No one has been arrested in both incidents and a manhunt of the suspect is underway.
Cops have requested Obed Mamogobo from the Mamphokgo village to report to his local cop shop as it is believed he can assist with further investigation.
Community members around Sekhukhune District with information or those who can assist in identifying the livestock have been urged to contact Captain Lesiba Matsaung on 079 975 2529 or Crime Stop number on 0860010111.

Three more die due to cholera!
TWENTY residents from Hammanskraal, north of Tshwane, have died due to the Cholera outbreak.
The death toll has climbed by three more people in 24 hours.
The government says extensive work is underway to test all possible sources of contamination after the Cholera outbreak.
According to Cabinet, authorities are testing all water sources, including the tankers delivering water, taps and the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW).
“To date, no evidence of cholera bacteria has been found in these sources, giving confidence to the likelihood that the cholera outbreak could be from a once-off contamination event, with the current cases being a result of secondary and tertiary contamination,” Cabinet said on Thursday.

'DRUNK' LOVER KILLS GIRLFRIEND
THE Free State High Court has sentenced Thabang Lehahla (24) to 27 years and six months direct imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend, Tshepiso Innocentia Molupe (20).
On Sunday, 29 May 2022, Thabang reportedly arrived home drunk and a fight over money followed between the couple.
He assaulted the seven-month-pregnant girlfriend with his hands, a broomstick and stabbed her with an unknown sharp object.
Police spokeswoman Sergeant Josephine Rani said on the same day, Thabang's mother arrived from Church and found the girlfriend lying on the floor of the house, not responding.
“She then contacted the ambulance as well as the SAPS and Tshepiso was declared dead by the emergency services. The accused had already fled the scene, with no leads on his whereabouts,” she said.

Through Detective Warrant Officer Rodger Kirkpatrick's thorough investigation, the accused was traced and arrested on the same day at a house nearby.
During the investigation, Kirkpatrick obtained a profile of the accused and re-opened nine contact-related cases, which are gender-based violence cases where the accused was involved as the perpetrator.
The Fezile Dabi District Commissioner Major General Moses Makubo, welcomed the sentence.
"Gender-Based Violence is a social injustice, killing innocent women and children. I condemn it in the strongest possible way," said Makubo.

ALTHOUGH there is a visible rift between King Misuzulu kaZwelithini and the Zulu monarch traditional prime minister Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi over Ingonyama Trust Board, king Misuzulu has denied it.
After their rift started a few weeks ago over the appointment of the new Ingonyama Trust Board chairman Inkosi Thanduyise Mzimela, King Misuzulu was supposed to address the nation on Wednesday, 24 May at 11am.

Two men who were suspected of an armed robbery of a courier vehicle were fatally wounded during a shootout with police at Newlands East on Wednesday morning, 24 May 2023.
Police responded to an incident in which a courier vehicle was robbed along the N2 freeway in Paddock in the early hours of Wednesday.
The suspects stole electronic devices among other items.Investigations led police to Newlands East where three suspects were found offloading their loot.
The suspects ignored police's instructions to surrender, opened fire at police and a shootout ensued. After the shootout, two suspects were found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The third suspect was arrested and two firearms were recovered at the scene.The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) have been summoned to the scene for further investigations.

165 PATIENTS ADMITTED TO JUBILEE DISTRICT HOSPITAL

Angry residents of Hammanskraal chased him out and threatened to burn his car, saying they were gatvol with the water issues in the area.
