WHIP of council for the City of Ekurhuleni, Councillor Khetha Shandu, will lead a delegation from the city to pay their last respects to Bokgabo Poo.

The mutilated body of four-year-old Bokgabo from Wattville in Ekurhuleni was found a day after she was reported missing on 10 October.

Her body was found in a veld in Wattville, and her hand was found in someone’s yard.

DNA results confirmed it was Bokgabo.

Her stepfather Johannes Sibiya has confirmed that the family decided to have her funeral service at their home on Monday, 7 November.

Bokgabo will then be laid to rest at the Van Dyk Park Cemetery later that morning.

The city is working with the Poo family to ensure she gets a dignified burial.

Meanwhile, the city is calling on communities to stand together against crime and be the ones looking after children because they are the future.

The man accused of her murder is expected back in the Benoni Magistrates Court on 14 November for further hearing.
