A SECURITY guard tragically died while carrying out his duties to protect and serve on Sunday, 27 August, at about 7pm in Madombidzha zone 4.

Vincent Sivhada (34) from Ha-Madodonga Village in Limpopo was allegedly shot and killed by a group of thugs who fled with his company vehicle.

It was reported that the guard was on duty, driving a company-owned Nissan NP200 bearing registration FHW045L when the incident happened.

The cops and emergency services were alerted and upon arrival, they discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood.

The brother of the deceased, Melton Sivhada, told Daily Sun that Vincent had left home for work only to find him returning in a state of death.

"The pain we felt upon hearing of his passing was unbearable and coming to terms with the circumstances of his death has proven exceptionally difficult.

“He was a man who held deep affection for his wife, children, and family. We are hopeful that justice will be served, and those responsible for his untimely death will be held accountable,” he said.

Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said cops seized empty cartridges and live ammunition from the scene.

“The victim was pronounced dead by the EMS and identified as Vincent Sivhada.

"The vehicle was later found abandoned on Monday, 28 August, between Tshiozwi and Madombidzha Village," Ledwaba said.

He said the cops opened a case of murder and carjacking.

Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident, calling on the community to assist cops with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects should call investigating officer Warrant Officer Mawela Patrick Tshikhudo on 072 745 4908/015 519 6000, or CrimeStop on 08600 10111.

The police investigations are continuing.
