A 30-YEAR-OLD nurse is traumatised after being kidnapped, robbed and raped while on her way to work.
This comes after an unknown man ambushed her shortly after she got off a taxi, walking to Madumane Clinic outside Tzaneen, Limpopo, on Thursday, 13 April at about 1am.
He allegedly dragged her into the bushes and assaulted and raped her before fleeing with some of her belongings.
Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba has condemned the incident.
Employed at the Madumane Clinic, the nurse was on her way from home in a taxi to the clinic just after dusk.
Since it was already dark, she allegedly requested the taxi driver to drop her off at the clinic, but the driver refused.
Health spokesman Neil Shikwambana said a few moments after getting off the taxi, an unknown man attacked her.

"He dragged her into the bushes, where he assaulted and raped her before making off with some of her belongings. She, however, managed to crawl to the nearby households for help," he said.
She was admitted to the hospital with a fracture and underwent an operation.
Ramathuba said support was sent to the victim and she wished her a speedy recovery.
"These prevailing issues of gender-based violence and rape are not only a terror for society, but they are painting a bad picture about our province," she said.
"We have just employed an army of nurses whose majority are in primary healthcare facilities with the intention to restore the 24-hour function. But issues of crime on healthcare workers have been a big threat. We, therefore, condemn this act and call on the community members to help the police to arrest this criminal."
