THE ANC in Limpopo has removed its three interim mayors and appointed their successors.
Provincial secretary Reuben Madadzhe announced on Tuesday, 7 November, that they have informed the mayor of Vhembe District Municipality Dowelani Nenguda, Samuel Munyai of Makhado Municipality and Maleke Mokganyetji of Sekhukhune District Municipality to resign from their posts.
Provincial spokesman Jimmy Machaka said the three mayors are expected to hand over their resignation letters from Wednesday, 8 November, until Friday, 10 November.
The mayors were appointed to lead the municipalities on an interim basis due to list disputes after the 2021 local government elections.

He said the candidates are expected to take their positions next week.
Machaka said the provincial executive committee notes that these deployments of mayors will also affect other positions within the political management teams of some municipalities.
“We urge our regions to attend to such vacancies occasioned by the deployments,” he said.
He said they are confident that the mayoral candidates are among the best comrades in their ranks, possessing substantial experience in local government and have the ability to advance their mission of delivering essential services to their people.
“We therefore call on all our structures and communities to support them as they work towards building better municipalities that provide basic services to our people,” he said.
Machaka said they also call on the candidates to focus their energy and capacity on resolving and attending to the service delivery challenges.
