The spokeswoman of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Morongwa Phukubye, said they will have three activities to commemorate 10 years of Madiba’s passing, which includes the annual lecture.
“The lecture series is an important event on the foundation's calendar and encourages people to enter into dialogue, often about difficult subjects in order to address the challenges we face today. This year’s panellists are Graca Machel, Nompendulo Mkatshwa, Karima Bennoune and Metra Mehran,” said Morongwa.
“We will conclude these activities with the Annual Mandela Remembrance Walk and Run at the Union Buildings on 10 December. This is a family event which promotes social cohesion and nation building, as well as encouraging a healthy lifestyle which was one of Madiba’s hallmarks."
She further said an exhibition titled “Nelson Mandela is Dead” will be open to all and available until March 2024.
“This is an exhibition that asks us to confront the undercurrents and consequences of the passing of Nelson Mandela. Through this exhibition, we want to highlight the urgency of the context we live in and acknowledge that nobody is coming to save us,” Morongwa said.
