BETTY Duli-Mkinase claims cops stole her computer, router, phone, and her cooking oil.
She told Daily Sun that on Friday 9 September, the officers came to her house in Gugulethu, Cape Town, at about 1am, claiming to be looking for a gun.
She said there were four men and four women, but they didn’t have name tags.
Betty told the SunTeam when she asked the cops about their name tags, they told her she thought she was smart and started slapping her.
Despite never even being told she was a suspect, Betty said she was handcuffed and forced to produce a marriage certificate.
According to Betty, the cops then read messages on her phone from her husband to find out where he was.
She said when they were about to leave, she asked the male cops to go outside so she could get dressed but instead, she got a hot klap.
“The lady cop slapped me again, asking why I was speaking in English,” she said.
“A male cop hit me with the back of his hand. He was wearing a ring and I got scratches on my face.
“We went to where my husband was sleeping and they ransacked the house, saying they were looking for a gun.
“My husband had just come back from hospital and was in bandages but they beat him.”
Betty claimed they also broke the door of the storeroom where she kept food for her soup kitchen, and took three two litre bottles of cooking oil.
After they left, she realised her router, phone and laptop were gone.
She called Gugulethu cop shop, but they said none of the items were brought in.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said the matter was being investigated.
“The investigating officer in the matter, Detective Sergeant Pieterse, is pursuing all available information,” he said.
