FOUR people tragically died during a heavy storm that hit the Margate CBD in KZN.
The incident happened on Sunday, 14 April, in a space of just two hours.
A mother, father and child were washed away with their car during the storm, while one person was struck by lightning.
As recovery efforts started on Monday, 15 April, authorities battled with extensive damage to infrastructure, including businesses, a church, and roads, caused by the storm.
As if that wasn't enough, more rain is expected in KZN.
KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) warned residents of level 5 disruptive rains expected in the eThekwini Metro, down to the South Coast which could result in localised flooding.

Cogta spokesman Siboniso Mngadi said according to the warning from the South African Weather Services (SAWS), the heavy downpours may result into some areas receiving rainfall accumulation of more than 200mm over a 24-hour period, which may lead to localised impact such as flooding of settlements and roads, damage to houses displacement of communities over the extreme south-eastern of the province on Monday.
He said areas that are likely to be affected includes eThekwini Metro, Umdoni, Umzumbe and Ray Nkonyeni municipalities.
"Our disaster teams have noted the flood damages that occurred in Margate town last night that were caused by the severe thunderstorms. Businesses and public infrastructure such as roads and houses have been severely damaged. Our teams are currently conducting assessments," he said.
He said residents are advised to take precautionary measures by moving to safer places and avoid travelling to prevent risks.
"The public is also warned of localised injuries and danger to life due to lightning," he said.
