IN order to get transport to travel to other areas, the residents of J Section in KwaMashu north of Durban rely on a footbridge.
They said it makes their lives easier, but now that the bridge is damaged, they need the councilor to urgently attend to it.
The footbridge was damaged during the deadly floods which hit the province last year and left a trail of damage.
Residents said they still use the damaged footbridge as they don't have a choice, but they fear that one day it will collapse completely and hurt them.

On of the residents, Ntombinkulu Khumalo (50), said she uses the bridge frequently.
"We continue to use it because we don't have a choice. I catch my bus from the bus stop so in order to get there I need to go through this bridge," she said.
Another resident, Melta Shabalala (52), said she uses the bridge every day.
"At night we cross here but it's so dark and we fear that we will get hurt, but we don't have a choice," she said.
She said some places where floods left damage have been fixed but the bridge in their area was left out.
"We appeal to the councilor to urgently attend to it. It's the only way we use to go to the bus stop and get transport," she said.
Local Councilor, Nhlanhla Sibiya, said she is aware of this footbridge that is not in good condition.
“We are attending to it soon,” said Councilor Sibiya.
