ONE body has been recovered at the Umngeni River near Molweni in the south of Durban earlier on today (Monday).
The body that hasn’t been identified yet was spotted by kids who were playing near the river. The kids then alerted the elders, who then called the cops.
The search and rescue team headed to the river and indeed found the body. But it took some time to take the body as it was stuck under a lot of mud. They had to carefully dig around the body so that they didn’t hurt the body.
The discovery of this body may bring some relief to one of the families of people who went missing during the deadly floods in KZN.
More than 400 people died in the floods that hit KZN two weeks ago.
Speaking at a media briefing in Durban on Sunday, KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala said thousands of public servants, search and rescue officials, volunteers from many non-government organisations, faith based communities and other private sector are working around the clock to help.

The premier said a total of 6 278 people are currently homeless, and 55 people were injured as a result of the disaster.
He added that the number of those who remain in shelters is 7 245 people in eThekwini.
