KING of kiss, ANC MP Boy Mamabolo may have kissed his chance to go to Parliament goodbye.

This after the Joburg High Court struck off the roll of his application to challenge his omission from the party's national candidate list on Tuesday, 9 April.

Mamabolo was number five in the provincial to national list after the party had held its extended Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting on 8 December 2023 to finalise the Limpopo list.

But after the party conducted its internal processes, it placed him further down, at number 22.

His legal representative, Advocate Fundile Sangoni, told the court that the ANC effectively "removed" Mamabolo from the list as only 20 people from Limpopo can go to the National Assembly (NA).

"They take him from number five without explanation of what scientific process or what procedure was followed to choose a number to place him, and they place him at number 22, which exceeds the number of seats that is an effective removal. That is why the IEC list that is ultimately published does not have his name," he said.

Sangoni said anyone from number 21 and above cannot be on the IEC list.

"That's definitely a removal," Sangoni said.

The ANC argued that reshuffling his name was part of its processes to ensure they sent good candidates to the NA.

It said only the first three names on the list were of the 10%, which could not be touched.

City Press reported that court papers filed by the ANC suggested that Mamabolo had failed to submit proof of qualifications despite verbal and written reminders since November last year.

In his replying affidavit, Limpopo ANC provincial list committee chairman, Kgoshi Thobejane, said that Mamabolo had mentioned in his CV that he had matriculated at Mohlakaneng High School in 2002, but has failed to submit supporting documents of his candidature.

The controversial MP sent tongues wagging when he was captured on a video kissing another woman during the ANC rally celebrating 112 years as part of its annual 8 January statement.

He told Sunday World: "It's obviously me kissing my comrade. There is nothing wrong with that. I have been kissing comrades. Everybody deserves some love."
