EVER since his daughter died, Vusi Madumane has lost hope in the police.
Vusi from Boksburg, Ekurhuleni, said he felt let down by the police, who have allegedly done nothing to find the person who killed his daughter, Mbali Hlongwane (21).
He told Daily Sun Mbali was stabbed to death on Thursday, 21 October at a college in Ekurhuleni.
“We received a call from her cousin, Lindokuhle, who attends the same college telling us Mbali was rushed to hospital after she was stabbed by her classmate. This was after writing an exam,” said Vusi.
He said he opened a case on Saturday, 23 October.
“I went back on Monday, 25 October to follow up and was told the case was assigned to a certain detective. They told me he was not around and gave me his number. When I called him, he said he knew nothing about the case,” said Vusi.
Lindokuhle said she was home when she was told Mbali had been stabbed.

“They said the classmate started an argument before the exam and wanted to stab her, but Mbali went into the exam room,” she said.
Lindokuhle said her peers told her the suspect waited outside the exam room for Mbali to finish writing.
“When she walked out, the guy followed her and stabbed her. She allegedly tried to run, but he was fast. He stabbed her three times and disappeared,” she said.
The cousin said from what she heard the bitterness started when some students qualified for their exams, while others didn’t.
“When they celebrated in the class WhatsApp group, the suspect passed silly remarks. Mbali responded by saying they worked hard to qualify and deserved to be happy.
“The suspect apparently did not take that well and took his anger out on my cousin,” said Lindokuhle.

She added that it was frustrating that the guy is active on social media and posted that he would hand himself over to the police.
“He changed his location to Rustenburg, but I’m sure that’s just a move to make us believe he’s left town.”
Police spokesman Captain Kay Makhubele said a case of murder was opened.
“We are aware of the family’s complaints. We ask them to give the investigator time to gather his facts. So far, the suspect is on the loose,” said Makhubele.
