FOR a long time residents have been looking for the young thief who has been stealing from them but always managing to disappear.

On Monday, 21 November, residents finally found him.

They caught him napping in an old car!

The residents of Emabeleni, Etwatwa, demanded their goods back and he led them to a scrapyard.

Sibongile Mthembu found some of her pots and her TV.

The angry residents wanted to give him a few lashes but they decided to call the police instead.

The police came but they didn’t arrest him and now residents were saying they were tired of scrapyards who bought stolen goods and promoted crime in their area.

“These guys steal from us knowing there’s a market for their loot,” said one concerned resident.

Sibongile said she got some of her things back.

“I was just lucky that we arrived before they were crushed,” she said.

The scrapyard owner was given a stern warning.

The residents told Daily Sun they had lost a lot of things.

“These nyaope addicts look weak and we are wondering where they getting the strength to lift some of the heavy objects steal,” a resident said.

The residents said they called the police to arrest the nyaope addict but cops wanted proof before they could arrest him. The disappointed residents resorted to helping him to go to rehab after he agreed to go.
