A KWADUKUZA Municipality council meeting in KZN had to be postponed on Wednesday, 6 December when council members were greeted by kak splashed at the entrance of the town hall.

The meeting was meant to elect a new deputy mayor. But the meeting had to be postponed.

It's alleged that a group of residents later arrived and started protesting. It's suspected that these residents don't want the person who has been proposed to take over the deputy mayor's position.

The election of the new deputy mayor comes after the previous deputy, Thulani Ntuli died in March 2023. This after he collapsed in his office after returning from an event to introduce the main contractor for the Riverside Bridge to be built in the area. The Riverside Bridge links Doesberg and Lindelani.

Ntuli's position hadn't been filled since his death.

KwaDukuza municipal spokesman Sfiso Zulu confirmed to Daily Sun that the meeting to elect a new deputy mayor was supposed to take plate on Wednesday, 6 December, but had to be postponed after kak was found at the entrance of the hall.

"But I can't say much about the matter at the moment," he said.
