NALEDI Moropa is stuck ephehlweni and needs help from SunReaders to go back home.
The 25-year-old from Randfontein, Rand West City, told Daily Sun she is at an initiation school in Emndeni, Soweto, and she can’t afford to graduate.
She said she was the breadwinner at home but now had to rely on her unemployed mum.
Naledi said she needed to pay an initiation fee of R15 000 and money to buy a goat and food for the ceremony, among other things. Gifts for the gobela are another fee. Everything might cost R30 000,” she said.
Naledi said she knew she had a calling when she was 15 but it took her nine years to finally accept it. She said she was naturally outgoing but the calling turned her into a loner with mood swings.
“My body became tense and I got sick more often than before,” she said.
Naledi told the SunTeam she started having visions and vivid recurring dreams.
“All of a sudden, I could’t do anything right. I failed my modules, lost friends and even some family members,” she said.
Naledi said she ended up losing her business and her bursary.
“I attempted suicide twice and I thought I was depressed but medication didn’t seem to help,” she said.

Naledi said being stuck ephehlweni made her feel like her entire life was on hold.
“I’m supposed to be graduating from University of Joburg but that might not happen as I’m still stuck here. I also feel like a burden on my already burdened mother. Besides fulfilling my dreams, I need to be home to raise my son, whom I left when he was only nine months old.”
