GAUTENG police together with Bad boys security company arrested a hitman in Mofolo, Soweto on Wednesday, 21 December.
Colonel Katlego Mogale said an intelligence-driven joint operation followed up on a tip-off regarding an alleged hit.
“The team went to the identified address of the alleged hitman and fortunately the suspect was at his residence. The multi-disciplinary team approached the suspect tactically as the information was that he has a firearm,” Mogale said in a statement.
She said upon searching the suspect’s room, cops found a pistol hidden in a wardrobe and a box of ammunition.
“A further search of the room resulted in more ammunition, including an AK47 and 45 special,” said Mogale.
She said investigations were underway and the suspect will appear in court soon. The pistol was circulated and tested positive in a Roodeport case.
