THE Minister of Foreign Affairs in Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, has applauded the work done by the Hope for Africa Foundation.
The Hope For Africa Foundation, in partnership with the Foundation for Human Rights and the European Union in South Africa, hosted the minister on Saturday, 7 October.
Fajon visited one of the Hope For Africa Foundation's organisation based in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni. This was her first official visit to Mzansi and she said they discussed topics of gender-based violence and how to empower girls and women.
She said: “I work a lot with women's organisations with civil society and NGOs, and I wanted to see one of the very important projects, which is financed by the European Union.
“It's amazing to see the wonderful work done by the foundation to empower the girls and educate them about gender-based violence,” she said.

The minister said the foundation is trying to empower women and girls to speak about their challenges.
“Gender-based violence is something that we're facing all over the world, so human rights issues are in the heart of my political life and I’m looking forward to closely working together with South Africa and African countries,” said Fajon.
The chief executive director of Hope for Africa Foundation, Jabulane Thabethe, said they were happy to be visited by the minister and her delegation.
“We were honoured to have been chosen among many organisations in Gauteng as it validates the impact and quality of our work. Our foundation aims to empower young girls starting from the age of 13 until they no longer need external support," he said.
