GOGO Pauline Tsatsawane Sithole (70) from Moshimong in Hammanskraal, Tshwane, and her family are homeless.
This after their shack mysteriously burnt to ashes on Christmas Day, landing the gogo in hospital.
Her son, Samuel Sithole (56), said she was alone at the time.
He said he did not live with his mother, but was around for Christmas.
“I usually stay in town because of work. The day the fire started, I was at a friend’s place and asked my two kids to fetch my phone at home,” he said, adding that when they left gogo at home, the shack burnt down.
“We don’t know what caused the fire, but we were called and told that our home was burning,” he said.
And by the time he arrived, the shack was in flames.
“The neighbours luckily took my mum out, and I am thankful for that. She is doing well. She was taken to the hospital to check if she didn’t get injured, especially internally because she was burnt. All our documents and furniture were burnt – even her wheelchair,” he said.
Community leader Joseph Tsawane said they were asking Good Samaritans to help the family to rebuild their home.
