MZANSI, if you haven’t collected your Identification Document (ID) yet, worry not.
This is because the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) will open its offices for an extra two hours on Friday, 2 February, from 4pm to 6pm.
According to the statement released by the department, on Saturday, 3 February and Sunday, 4 February 2024, their offices will open for nine hours, from 8am to 5pm on each day, for citizens to collect their IDs in support of the Voter Registration Weekend scheduled to take place this weekend.
The department further said services that will be offered are the application and collection of IDs and applications for Temporary Identification Certificates (TICs), and those eligible voters will be able to register for the 2024 national and provincial elections.
Home Affairs deputy minister Njabulo Nzuza said they want to assist those who need an ID to participate in the voter registration as an opportunity to come and collect their documents.

“We particularly encourage young people to come to our offices from Friday afternoon and over the weekend to come and apply or collect their documents,” said Nzuza.
He said they encourage clients who have applied for identification documents and have been waiting for three weeks or more to seize this opportunity by visiting their Home Affairs offices to collect these critical documents.
“In addition, clients can now book collection appointments before visiting offices, using the Branch Appointment Booking System (BABS), which is available on the DHA Website,” said the deputy minister.
