SEVEN family members who are squatting in a two-roomed shack desperately need help.
The members of the family living in the shack were dependent on their mum and gogo Julia Ndlovu (50), but she died on 4 January.
Her daughter Millicent (32) from Mmakaunyane, North West, said they could only bury their mum with donations.
“We survive on our children’s grants and we desperately need help to build a house that will accommodate all of us,” she said.
Millicent said there’s no privacy in their shack and a five-roomed house would be life-changing.
“I am looking for any kind of job to look after my family. I don’t have qualifications as I dropped out of school in grade 9 because my mum couldn’t afford to take care of us as a single parent.”
Millicent said that she didn’t know what they would eat and appealed for donations of food and clothing.
“When it’s raining, it’s like we are outside. We don’t sleep. We have to stand up with our children,” she said.
Millicent said she and her family were hoping someone would volunteer to build them a house and donate furniture as they were sleeping on the floor.

Lucas Chabalala, the community development officer of the Moretele Municipality, said he assessed the situation and the family was really struggling.
“We assessed the situation and engaged with the councillor for a solution so that the family can be helped. Not so long ago, we helped the family to bury their mother,” he said.
Julia, who had six children, was buried on Friday, 13 January.
