POLICE need help in order to arrest cash-in-transit thieves.

Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the incident took place earlier on Tuesday, 19 July, at the corner of Tema and Nicolas streets in Orlando East, Soweto.

Netshiunda said the driver of the armoured vehicle and his two colleagues were driving from Bara Mall, headed towards Orlando East, when they were allegedly accosted by an unknown number of suspects who brought their vehicle to a standstill.

“The security guards were robbed of their three firearms, and suspects then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money,” said Netshiunda.

He said the driver sustained a head injury after he was reportedly hit with the butt of a firearm by the suspects.

Anyone with information is urged to contact CrimeStop on 08600 10111 or tip off the police via MySAPS App.
