AN EMPLOYEE of the Hawks in Western Cape is in hot water for allegedly falsifying her qualifications.

The security official appeared in Bellville Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 10 August on a charge of fraud.

Hawks spokeswoman Zinzi Hani said the 45-year-old was bust on Monday, 8 August by the Hawks for allegedly falsifying her matric certificate.

“In October last year, there was a post advertised for a security official in the Hawks offices in Bellville. When she applied for the position, the accused allegedly submitted a fraudulent matric certificate, which was one of the requirements for the post.”

She said the accused was appointed as a security official, occupying the post on 1 April this year.

“Upon noticing the suspicious certificate, the Hawks vetted the qualifications with the Department of Education.

“The alleged fraud was discovered and further investigation revealed the accused submitted the same qualification at her previous employment, where she was employed as a security officer,” Hani said.

The accused was released on R1 000 bail following her brief appearance in court.

Hani said the matter was moved to 6 September for legal representation.
