A MAN (22) from Mpumalanga who allegedly killed his mkhulu will not apply for bail.
Siyabonga Sanderson appeared briefly in the KaBokweni Magistrates Court on Friday, 10 November and is facing charges of murder and the obstruction of justice.
Sanderson told the court that he will defend himself and does not intend to apply for bail.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Monday, 6 November at Swalala outside White River.
It is alleged that the suspect's grandfather, Albert Sanderson (75), reprimanded the accused for bringing multiple girlfriends to the house, after which an argument ensued.
The accused allegedly punched the deceased, who died at the scene.

He then allegedly buried him in a shallow grave in his backyard. The discovery was made by the suspect's uncle on Wednesday, 8 November, who went to check on the madala, who was not answering his phone.
The suspect's uncle, Aubrey Sanderson (45), said when he got to the house, he found his father's bedroom locked.
He said he then asked his nephew about his father's whereabouts and the nephew told him he last saw him on Monday.
Aubrey said he began to search the house and found his father's bedroom locked, then he broke down the door and could not find him. When he went outside, he noticed a shallow grave and asked him about it. He said he was harvesting cassava.
He claimed that he suspected that his nephew had allegedly killed his father. He then asked him to bring a shovel to dig.
As they were digging, the suspect asked them to stop and go into the house so that he could explain everything.
He then asked his uncle to take him to the police station, where he made the confession.
Albert's body was exhumed on Thursday, 9 November. The matter was postponed to 30 January 2024 for further investigation.
