TAXI operations in Ekurhuleni will be back in full swing on Friday, 8 March.
This was confirmed by Santaco Ekurhuleni region's spokesman, Zweli Mnisi.
On Thursday, 7 March taxi commuters in and around Ekurhuleni were left stranded after they found out there were no taxis in Katlehong, Germison, Thembisa, and Daveyton.
However, Mnisi said that after a meeting with government officials, they resolved some of their issues.
"We want to thank you for your cooperation regarding the shutdown that we experienced this morning on Thursday; however, we now bring you the news that we have managed to resolve some of the issues. Now, the operation will be back to normal as of tomorrow morning, Friday.
"We are resuming our operations as normal. We really appreciate your support and would really want to express our sincere apologies for the interruptions that we encountered this morning, however, we had no choice but to embark on the shutdown," said Mnisi
He said they urge commuters to go back to where they normally bought their taxis there will be taxis operating to various destinations.
Taxi commuters in Katlehong, Germiston, and Daveyton in Ekurhuleni were left stranded following a taxi strike on Thursday morning, 7 March.
Taxi operators claimed the government had introduced new bus services to operate in Ekurhuleni.
Taxi operations have been suspended following a dispute that relates to a disagreement between taxi drivers and the bus company using the same route in the area.
Commuters told Daily Sun they only learned on Thursday, 7 March, that there were no taxis.

Thembi Vilakazi from Vosloorus said she was shocked to find the Natalspruit Taxi Rank not operating.
"Most of the taxi commuters turned away after they found out that no taxis were operating at this taxi rank. The strike has affected us badly because we can't go to work, and it's worse that we don't know what's happening," said Thembi.
Another taxi commuter, Mpendulo Mpela (45) from Katlehong said he was supposed to be at work at 6am.
Tankiso Molele (54) from the Mavimbela Section said: "I was supposed to collect medication at Thelle Mogoerane Hospital in Vosloorus. We're suffering because of this strike."
The Chairman of Katlehong People's Taxi Association, Phaphama Zulu, confirmed that the taxi strike in Katlehong was on.
"We've tried to engage the government about the consequences of introducing buses in the area and how it affects the taxi business, but the government ignored our grievances.
"However, I can't comment further because we're going to have a meeting with the bus company and other government officials to discuss the matter," said Zulu.
Ekurhuleni metro police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Kelebogile Thepa confirmed the taxi strike, which disrupted the city. He said metro police were deployed to monitor the situation.
