MORE Gold One mineworkers are expected to face music.
Currently, 34 mineworkers who allegedly held over 500 of their colleagues hostage underground at the mine situated in Springs, Ekurhuleni, last week have been suspended.
Gold One mine head of legal, Ziyaad Hassam, told Daily Sun on Thursday, 2 November, that internal investigations are continuing and more workers would face internal disciplinary proceedings.
He said the 34 mineworkers who were suspended include those who were on the surface of the mine and those who were underground.
"We started suspending the employees who were found in the incident that happened last week.

"There will still be a few more who will be suspended in the coming days, but at this stage, 34 mineworkers have been suspended," Hassam said.
He said the suspended workers were identified through camera footage and reports from other employees.
"Employees that were on the surface during last week when we issued a clear instruction for all our employees to stay home. Several employees would defy that instruction. There was also a court order which made it illegal for any sit-in during those days," Hassam added.
He said the mine is scaling up towards full operation.
"We're not there yet. We hope that by Monday, 6 November, we will be back to the full operation. The workers are being called back in a phased approach," Hassam said.
Ziyaad said no cases have been opened yet.
"We have discussions with the police. We have given a few statements, but nobody has been charged at this stage," he said.
