GOGO Mavis Khumalo and her family have been left traumatised by a man who died in their house on Sunday, 1 May.

The family had to spend two days with the corpse, which was only taken way on Tuesday, 3 May.

The 66-year-old gogo from Machadadorp near Middelburg, Mpumalanga, told Daily Sun the man was visiting her nyaope addict son. She said all they know is that he was from Mozambique.

“The man began to get sick. We called an ambulance but it didn’t come.

“When it came on Monday, 2 May, the man was already dead.

“I called the cops after the man died. They helped me where possible, but told me they will not open a case because the man died of natural causes.

“Pathologists told me they don’t collect a body without a case being opened,” she said.

Gogo Mavis said the kids are now scared to go into the room where the body lay or to the toilet.

Gogo’s son, Bongani Mkhwanazi (35), said: “We didn’t know where to start tracing his family. We feel he’s still here.”

Sangoma Mehlwemamba Sikhosana said the family and the house need to be cleansed.

“The spirit of the man needs to be taken by his family. They need to find his family otherwise they’ll not rest,” he said.

Colonel Donald Mdluli said no crime happened so no case was opened as the man died of natural causes.
