FORMER EFF secretary-general Godrich Gardee’s daughter has been found dead.

This was confirmed by the EFF in a statement.

Hillary Gardee’s body was found dumped on the R537 road between Mbombela and Lydenburg in Mpumalanga today, 3 May.

The 28-year-old woman went missing on Friday, 29 April, and her family reported her missing on Saturday, 30 April.

A R100 000 reward was issued for anyone with information.

She was last seen at a shopping plaza in Mbombela.

In a statement released by the EFF, the party said they mourn with the Gardee family.

They said they will give the family a helping hand and ensure that the young woman goes to her final resting place with dignity.

“The family is still reeling from the terrible news of the loss of their child and as such, is not in a position to speak to the media or the public,” reads the statement.

They added that they appreciate all the efforts of those in the public sphere, who formed part of the efforts to find Hillary.

“We thank the people of South Africa for banding together behind a selfless activist.

“We also thank all members of the EFF for rallying behind our former secretary-general and commissar, who has dedicated his life to the liberation of our people.

“May this chapter, which has ended in such an unfortunate manner, be instructive to all of us to fight the scourge of gender-based violence,” said the statement.
