HIS success story is not one to be ignored.
Mosupi Khojane was 18 when he worked as a waiter at a Durban restaurant.
He climbed up the ranks, getting management role. Today, he's the proud of owner of some of Mzansi's top restaurants including Gemelli in Bryanston and Zio La Famiglia in Hyde Park, both in the north of Joburg.
Mosupi has come full circle and will be heading to Durban to celebrate his success in the city that helped shape him into the person he is today.
On Saturday, 1 July Mosupi's businesses will have an official marquee at the Durban July.
“I used to be a waiter at Durban July events. For me it will be like a trip back home to show people what I have done since I came egoli,” he said.
His chef, Shaun Matsaung, said: “We are looking forward to give the best service to the guests who will be at our marquee. The event will help us to showcase what we offer to our customers in our restaurants.”

He said people always ask him what his secret to success is.
He said: “There's no secret to my success, but I was called to be a restauranteur. My job is to serve people with good food and make sure they are happy. I got where I am today by doing my job every day and wanting more to the point of opening up my first restaurant eight years ago.”
He said it was not easy in 2018 as he was drowning in debt of about R21 million.
“Nobody knows that. That was the first time I went through depression. When people talked about mental issues from 2020, I was long dealing with that.”
Mosupi said he thanked two entrepreneurs Thabiso Hermanus and Andile Khumalo who helped him to get out of debt and get back on his feet again.
“They are part of the board who deal with the finance side of my business. I would advise entrepreneurs to appoint a board who will deal with the income tax issues and finances,” he said.
He said he wouldn't have achieved what he had without Thabiso and Andile, as well his amazing staff members who have been with him from the first day he opened his first restaurant.
