GAUTENG police have arrested a gang suspected of being responsible for house robberies and theft in the province.
Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said three members of the gang were found in possession of various housebreaking tools and were arrested in Tshwane on Tuesday, 13 September.
Masondo said the arrests were made after various law enforcement agencies monitored the gang’s movements.
“The team received information about the gang and kept close surveillance.
“Three suspects were spotted in Pretoria North driving in a Haval and the team pounced on them.
“When their car was searched, various housebreaking tools were recovered. All three suspects were arrested,” he said.
Masondo said the suspects’ vehicle was taken to the police pound as the investigation continues.
He said the suspects were linked to various cases, including housebreaking committed in Benoni this month.
“The suspects took electronic devices and appliances.
“It was also established that they were previously arrested for committing similar offences,” Masondo said.
