A GROUP has taken to the streets to demand answers from cops after the body of a woman was found dumped in a wheelie bin in Crossroads in Nyanga, Cape Town, on Monday.
The marchers said the suspect, who is allegedly known by the community, is roaming the streets and they want him behind bars.
A group of more than 150 people from organisations such as Baphi Abafazi Movement and Etafeni, as well as religious leaders, went to the house where the wheelie bin with the body was found. They prayed with the house owner before they marched to Nyanga cop shop where they handed over a memorandum, demanding that cops arrest the alleged perpetrator.

“We are heartbroken because we don’t know what we have done wrong to deserve to be killed,” said Ntombi Hlaphezulu of Baphi Abafazi.
Xolani Tshandu from Etafeni said: “We are going to organise counselling for the mother who discovered the body inside the bin.
“She will get counselling sessions in Etafeni and any other women who are in the same position as her are welcome.”
Tshandu also told cops to send victims that need counselling to their centre as they were prepared to assist them.
Community Policing Forum secretary Dumisani Qwebe said: “We are also working hard on our side to ensure the suspect is caught and thrown behind bars.”
Acting station commander at Nyanga cop shop, Colonel Siphiwo Sithole, accepted the memorandum from the residents and promised to look into their demands before giving feedback.
“If we work together, we can succeed in our fight for a safer community,” he said.
