FACTIONAL differences in the Makhado Municipality are hindering the municipality from performing some of its duties.
This comes after the council collapsed for the second time, sitting at the municipality in Limpopo.
This is due to factional differences among 10 ANC councillors.
The 10 and some opposition councillors didn't attend the council sitting, and there was no quorum.
The council has also not been able to approve the 2024/2025 budget.
Some councillors are against changes in the political management of the municipality.
Council Speaker Gumani Mukwevho said they will implement proper legislation to deal with ill-discipline.
“We're hurt that the council didn't sit on 31 January. Councillors disrupted the council and decided to simply boycott. But there are many processes that can be followed by the legislative framework to deal with ill-discipline,” she said.

Daily Sun contacted the ANC Limpopo spokesman, Jimmy Machaka, regarding action to be taken against the 10 ANC councillors.
“We have not yet received the report on the matter. Once we receive it, we'll consider the merits and decide accordingly," Machaka said.
However, a DA councillor in the municipality, Glenda Furumele, called for intervention, and accused the ANC of failing to resolve its internal issues.
“We feel disappointed by the failure of the council no sitting for the second time. It seems the issue of slates or internal issues of the ANC is making our community members suffer the consequences,” she said.
Furumele said they would table a motion of no confidence against the newly elected Speaker, Gumani Mukwevho at the next council meeting.
“The Speaker’s failure to effectively chair council meetings and ensure compliance with the Council Code of Conduct, rules and orders is detrimental to the effective functioning of the municipality,” she said.
ANC Limpopo secretary Reuben Madadzhe has directed the chairperman of the subcommittee of local government and legislature and the head of deployees, Rodgers Monama, to investigate the allegations after a complaint was received from ANC deployees attached to the municipality.
