THE sky is the limit for Lucky Dladla. The 39-year-old from Sakhile kasi in Standerton, Mpumalanga started working as a cleaner at Standard Bank in 2008.

After four months as a cleaner, he was promoted to a doorman where he worked for two years. He was later promoted to be a receptionist where he worked for three years before being promoted again to guest services for two years.

This was followed by an appointment as a supervisor, where he led a front-line team.

Today, he’s the manager for the same front-line team – the position he has occupied since 2018.

He said his promotion was due to his charisma and hard work.

He said: “It is something I learnt from my late gogo, Nomasonto Dladla. She told me to have hospitality and encouraged me to sleep on the floor and allow visitors to sleep on the bed.”

He further said his gogo would tell him to wake up early before the visitors so that he could prepare refreshments. “This taught me to prioritise people and never take them for granted since you do not know who is your angel,” said Lucky.

Lucky said as a manager, he was nominated to travel to the US in 2017 by Margaret Ninaber.

“I went to do research on biometrics and cybercrime. I visited different companies such as Facebook, Google and Amazon,” said Lucky.

When Lucky is not working at the bank, he is the CEO of We Believe is Gold Entertainment that has signed artist such as Cebo Ngcobo, Himself G, Mpho and Selebhe.

His company has signed a three-year contract with Connect Africa for publishing and distribution.

Lucky said he will release his amapiano single, Imali Khona, on 25 August.

“It speaks about what money can buy and it will be available on all digital music stores,” said Lucky, who describes music as petrol for life.

“When we go through rough times, music is the only inspiration that heals the soul.”

Lucky is urging people to not allow their background to determine their future.

“I started as a cleaner but today I am the manager,” added Lucky.
