FOUR suspects were nabbed for the kidnapping of a Chinese national.
A tactical operation led by the national Anti-Kidnapping Task Team in collaboration with private security pounced on four of the five suspects at a house in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, on Sunday, 14 August.
This after a 55-year-old man was reportedly kidnapped from his place of work in Boksburg the previous morning.
“Five suspects stormed into the premises, held up security guards and forced the victim into their vehicle before driving off,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Netshiunda.
He said the victim was unharmed.
At this stage, the police could not confirm the motive and whether anything was taken from the victim.
However, a source close to the investigations said a ransom was demanded.
Suspects aged between 35 and 50 are expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates Court soon.
Netshiunda said: “Two firearms, multiple cellphones and the vehicle which was allegedly used during the commission of the crime were found in the possession of the suspects.”
