THE former president of Mzansi and of the African National Congress (ANC), Jacob Zuma, says uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) wants to fix the country.

Zuma was in Alexandra North in Joburg on Saturday, 10 February to address an MK party rally.

Speaking to a crowd of about 3 000 people at Alexandra Stadium, Zuma said the MK party wants to fix the country by fighting crime and repairing the roads.

He also spoke about the ANC and emphasised that the ruling party is not the ANC of the people of Mzansi.

He said this is the ANC of Cyril Ramaphosa has stopped listening to the people.

"We have realised that this is no longer the ANC that was founded by our forefathers. That is why we are saying that this ANC is the ANC of a man called Cyril Ramaphosa, not ours," he said,

He went on to say that people were telling MK leaders that they would never vote for the ANC if Ramaphosa remained its president.

Zuma said he was not saying this because he hated anyone, but because the number of people who had withdrawn their support from the ANC was visible and the ANC was losing more and more members.

"There are concerns that the ANC is controlled by white businesspeople. Our ANC has never been controlled by whites. That is why we have realised that the time has come to build a new political party that stands for black liberation," he said.

He also addressed the leadership of the MK.

He said one of the reasons why the party had no formal leadership was because he wants to ensure that the right people were chosen for the position.

Zuma said he had to be wary of those who left the ANC to join his party just to stir up trouble.

"I want to sound a warning because the people who are coming out of the ANC and joining uMkhonto weSizwe are coming with ill- discipline and corruption. That is why I am saying we should vote now because others are here to join uMkhonto weSizwe," he said.

Meanwhile, prominent KZN photographer Simphiwe Moyo, who has been with the party for almost 9 years, has resigned from the ANC.

He has confirmed that he will join the MK party.
