A FORMER constable (27) is expected to appear in the Standerton Magistrates Court on Monday, 7 June on charges of allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death.

It’s alleged the man from Mpumalanga killed his girlfriend of three years on Sunday, 6 June at his home in Standerton.

“The suspect stabbed his girlfriend several times at his place of residence, then took the victim’s vehicle and informed police about what he’d done.

“He then led them, together with the medical team, to his house. On arrival, the lifeless body of the woman was found in a pool of blood with visible stab wounds,” said Brigadier Leonard Hlathi.

A murder case was registered and the suspect was immediately arrested.

Hlathi said cops confiscated a sharp object at the scene.

Meanwhile, acting provincial police commissioner Major-General Thulani Phahla said: “Women should be protected by men and not suffer senseless violence. We believe justice will be served for this victim and her family.”
