TWO Mpumalanga cops who are members of the flying squad have been arrested.
It's alleged that the officers were also involved in a cash-in-transit heist in which R8 000 was stolen. The constable and sergeant are also linked to cases of ATM bombings.
They were arrested on Thursday night, 17 August while transporting rifles, including three AKA47s, two service pistols and explosives. The duo was arrested while travelling in a state vehicle.
Police said the officers were part of a group that allegedly robbed a Fidelity armoured vehicle on Friday, 11 August in Nkomazi.
The cash van was on its way from Malelane to Tonga. About 15 km from the N4, the vehicle was rammed by a Mercedes-Benz C-class and lost control.

It was blown up and about R8 000 in coins were stolen. This cash was destined for a business in Tonga. Suspects fled in the direction of Tonga.
Mpumalanga police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the tracking team tracked the firearms which were allegedly on their way to KaNyamazane from Schoemansdal.
The firearms and explosives were allegedly collected by members of the White River Flying Squad.
The two suspects are expected to appear in the Malelane Periodical Court on Monday, 21 August, to face charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions and contravention of Explosives Act. More charges may possibly be added.
